AI în medicină at Neurocare Conference 2026

We like to think that when someone thinks of MH Lawyers, they think of us as "the people with the solutions".

Solutions were exactly what we were asked for last year, when we began building the collaborative project AI în medicină, in which we combined our legal expertise in medical law with the technical expertise contributed by Adela Muresan.

On May 14th, 2026, at the invitation of Dr. Raluca Teleanu, PhD, we took part as speakers in the Neurocare Conference - Multidisciplinarity in Action: Frontiers in Neuropaediatrics, 2026 Edition. The call for multidisciplinarity was fitting, because - lawyers that we are - we spoke about artificial intelligence at a conference in the medical field.

If you are wondering how we got here, here is a little context.

For several years now, the med tech market has been shifting ever more visibly towards products with built in AI. And the managers of private medical facilities who understood the direction early on have started integrating them into practice.

The results were reported to us by the doctors themselves. Better accuracy, faster diagnoses, and time saved for what truly matters: the connection with the patient. In more complex cases, working time reduced from 3 days to 45 minutes. And, frankly, less fatigue for people who make dozens of high-stakes decisions every day.

At the Neurocare Conference, we spoke about the efficiency of AI in medicine. But we also looked at the side effects, because a lawyer's eye is trained to read the small print on the leaflet as well.

The side effects in the event of a serious incident? Fines of EUR 15 million or 3% of turnover under the AI Act, GDPR penalties, disciplinary liability, withdrawn operating authorisations and medical malpractice claims.

The good news is that they respond well to legal treatment, preferably preventive.

That is why we also spoke about accountability, and put four solutions on the table that are more than theory on a slide. They are solutions we have already implemented in concrete projects, with clients who understood that using AI in medical practice is a high-stakes business decision, one that deserves to be approached with enthusiasm… and with a clear head.

Our thanks also go to the participants, who confirmed once again that the medical world is well ahead of the infrastructure it is obliged to work with. The most honest question of all: "Could you do something about the state IT systems too?" Duly noted.
